Ella’s Handbag Sketch: Woven Wool Satchel

January 10, 2006 by Designer Ella

Ella\'s Sketch - Red Woven Wool SatchelFor my flight this recent trip, I had an idea. I took my sketch notebook and planned to draw handbag designs. It went really well, and the flight down was the best I’d ever had. I’m going to now share some designs with you, and hopefully when I get ideas, I will take time out to draw them, in the future.

This is a satchel for a Fall/Winter collection, made of red woven wool. This design had been in my head for a while.

Click on the picture to see the full image with text notes. What needs explaining now is that longer shoulder strap: it’s removable, with a reinforcement (the scribbled part). Those two fobs are removable to move between the two spots shown.

Thanks for allowing me to share! Let me know if you like this feature.

This is a neat feature, Ella-you should definitely post more when you get a chance.

Have you ever entered a “Design a Handbag” contest? Lucky magazine sponsored one several months ago. I entered and actually was one of the first 150, so I got a gift certificate from The Sak. I ended up getting a nice leather purse with it!

Oooh. That sounds amazing. My mum has a subscription, so we’ll keep an eye out for that. Oh, why wouldn’t she let me know before? Do you know what the winning design looks like?

      Thanks!

Unfortunately, I don’t remember it. I know I saw a small photo of it, but I can’t find it. Maybe I’ll have to do some searching for it.
