Fendi Sues Wal-Mart over Sam’s Club Fakes

June 11, 2006 by Designer Ella

Via Yahoo! : Fendi S.R.L. sued Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in US Federal Court on Friday for selling counterfeit bags and accessories, at their Sam’s Club stores, with the Fendi logo and passing them off as authentic, while reportedly earning millions off the highly “discounted” merchandise.

“Wal-Mart said late on Friday that it had not seen the complaint and therefore could not comment.” (Weren’t the Wal-Mart folks there for the suit, though?)

“In one example cited in the lawsuit, a black handbag bearing Fendi’s trademark logo was offered for sale in a Sam’s Club store in Miami for $508.25, 45 percent less than the retail price of $930 for a genuine Fendi bag.

“Sam’s Club stores, which sell everything from bulk groceries to office supplies, recently said it would ratchet up competition with rival Costco Wholesale Corp. by selling more luxury goods like fine wines and diamonds.”

Fendi has asked for monetary compensation and requests the knockoffs be destroyed. Good for them.

Meanwhile, Wal-Mart is selling replica Fendi Spy bags, Chloé Paddingtons and more designer “inspired” bags for under $20. (I refuse to link.)

Just because everyone isn’t as rich and luxurious as you, does not mean it is evil for them to buy a Wal-Mart knock-off bag. It looks very different from the real deal, and I was happy to buy the Wal-Mart one. It’s retarded for Fendi to demand money. These bags are obviously fake, and have no Fendi logo on them. “GOOD for them.” “I refuse to link.” You incredibly snobby *female chien*. Maybe some people don’t have thousands of dollars to blow on something as frivilous as a purse, you moron.

Oh you little thing. I’m not rich, at all. I live well beyond my means, but I still dare not buy a Fendi bag yet, not even a non-IT Fendi bag, such as the Chef (love the chef).

It is rude for you to insult me so and use foul language. I’ve prettied it up, but everyone can still see what you’ve said. You do not know me at all. I can be a snob in some ways, sure, but am not a true snob.

I never promote the bags as far as to say that we all need to buy Spys, Paddingtons and B.s. This blog is here to admire the bags, and we don’t discourage buying them, but we do note on the high prices as being too much for us. We do not have thousands of dollars to blow on lovely bags, but that does not mean we can’t enjoy them from our computer screens.

We are not like several other bloggers who buy these IT bags frequently, we never have at all. Perhaps we are here more for the budgeted, but everyone is welcome.

I refuse to link to Wal-Mart period. I would never support Wal-Mart on my blogs in any form. They outsource workers and products, which causes US unemployment and brings prices down, which attracts customers, which runs other stores out of business. Their apparel and accessories are not quality, and I’m pretty sure many other items are not as well.

This article was mostly about the Sam’s Club logoed bags, and not the non-logo “Spys” at Wal-Mart. You do agree that the knockoff logo bags are wrong to buy, et cetera, right? They are illegal, of course, and they promote things like terrorism and cost everyone money.

Good for Fendi, yes. Of course, that was in response to the company asking for the bags to be destroyed. Knockoffs can not float around the world, or they can do further damage to the economy and even lives.

I suggest you check out further articles on this site about knockoffs.
