New! Dooney & Bourke ‘Picnic’ Bag

March 8, 2007 by Designer Ella

Dooney & Bourke Picnic Large Duffle BagA tisket, a tasket, a gingham plaid picnic … duffle? Kind of cute is Dooney & Bourke’s new print for a Spring range of bags; Picnic. Featured here on the large new “duffle” shape, the fabric comes in Dooney’s usual array of colours.

The Large Duffle is truly large enough to use as a picnic basket alternative itself, at 19.5″ x 11″ x 9″. Think it’s silly to waste a handbag for that purpose? You won’t when you read the duffle’s price: $195! Oh yes.

The rest of the picnic shapes start at $125. Pick your colour, pick your shape. Then pick your friends up for lunch!

Dooney & Bourke Mini Bubble Small Tulip BagPolka dots make me happy, and that is the feel of Dooney & Bourke’s new “Mini Bubble” collection. In their classic shapes, they’ve miniaturized their “Bubble” circle logo and put them on different colours such as cream/black, sky, cocoa, multi (pictured) and more.

The mini bubble is cute and depending on colour can suit any age. It’s not in-your-face or tacky, no these tiny bubbles are just fine.

    Top 5 Ugliest Bags #2

December 23, 2006 by Designer Ella

Dooney & Bourke Bumble Bee Tassel Zip TopNo surprise here, on the list of Top Ugly Bags is the new Dooney & Bourke: #3 Dooney & Bourke Bumble Bee bag.

The complete collection features bags with overly cartoonish bee drawings carrying “Ds” (the letters) but no “Bs”, for the bees are the “Bs” - get it? It’s a form of signature, then?

It’s busy, it’s corny and it’d be cute for the too young to afford $185.

Holiday Gift Idea: Dooney & Bourke Accessories

November 28, 2006 by Designer Ella

Following our Holiday Gift Week series, I still have at least one gift to write about.

Dooney & Bourke Doodle Flap Wristlet Honey leatherOne source of an assortment of fashionable gifts for women is Dooney & Bourke, and their various accessories. Dooney & Bourke wristlets are cute for girls, especially the more colorful ones. For adults, they have nice - more sophisticated - accessories and bags, too. Like Coach, Dooney is a more affordable luxury brand.

Their Flap Wristlets, like this Doodle Wristlet shown, cost $45. That’s a great price considering some other pricetags these days. And teenagers often only need a wristlet as an entire bag, so depending on what you pick for whom, a D&B gift is a great one.

    Dooney & Bourke Bubble Purses

April 25, 2006 by Mallory Road

    Dooney&BourkeBubblePurses
It’s no secret Dooney & Bourke has many questionable fabric prints, such as “Doodle” and “Tattoo.” But, I have to say, I’m liking their “Bubble” print. Of course, I am a sucker for polka dots, so that has a lot to do with it.

Available on a wide array of purse shapes in a wide variety of color combos, my personal favorite is the Small Circle Hobo in ivory and navy. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a photo of that one, so you’ll just have to get on their site and check it out.

Dooney & Bourke Banana and Saddle Bags

December 5, 2005 by Designer Ella

Dooney & Bourke Vintage Leather Saddle BagDooney & Bourke banana and saddle bags: no, this is not the start of a fashion joke. It seems the brand has finally made a couple of nicely shaped handbags. The styles come in leather and all of their new logo prints (which are mostly horrid in themselves).

The new pocket bags are roomier than the old pocketed designs. The saddles have 7 outer pockets, alone! (And there are still zippered, cell phone/multi-function pockets, inside!) The 2 styles come in 4 sizes, total.

Especially nice is the vintage leather; also the denim signature is not bad, if one cares for sporting a Dooney logo. Unfortunately, the website doesn’t offer images of all the colors for each bag, and department stores haven’t picked up any of these shaped bags, yet (Doodle, galore, though). How do I know whether to invest?

    DesignerElla Starts Selling on eBay!

December 2, 2005 by Designer Ella

Dooney & Bourke Hearts Barrel Satchel Black eBayI have started selling on eBay! I’ve started with my mother’s used Dooney & Bourke Hearts Barrel. With full time school now in finals, full time running this network, and the long, hard process it takes to put up listings, they will be slow to put up. But keep checking back!

(This listing is displayed and described excellently, as will all of my listings be. $49.99 to start $80 Buy It Now.)

You know when you find a listing on Pursed Lips that I, myself, am selling, it’s authentic! Just read my blog and you’ll understand.

    Dooney & Bourke “Doodle” Bug

November 19, 2005 by The Desirers

Mallory Road: Dooney & Bourke Doodle Pocket Sac

I think the new line of “Doodle” handbags from Dooney & Bourke are named quite appropriately. My problem with the design is that it looks like you purchased a purse and used it as a writing board. If I’m spending between $100 to $300 for a handbag, I do not want it to look scribbled on! Actually, it doesn’t matter what I spend on the purse, I don’t like the look. In fact, I specifically try to protect my purses so they don’t get scuffed or marked. The shapes of some of these bags are great, but, in my opinion, the pattern does nothing for them. So, Designer Ella, what’s your opinion?

    DesignerElla:

I think they they took all of their recent logo prints, mixed them in a blender, fed that to a dog, and it was so disgusting, she vomited on these nicely shaped bags. One step forward, two steps back!

Michelle Trachtenburg New Spokesmodel for Dooney & Bourke

September 24, 2005 by Designer Ella

Michelle Trachtenburg for BourkeIn my inbox, I received news from Dooney & Bourke that, “Tartan arrives and a Star is born.” Very interesting! But what outshone the actual bag designs was the Star posing with the Small Barrel Bag; Dooney’s new spokesmodel, Michelle Trachtenburg of “Buffy” fame. She looks glimmering in the photo (as you can see here).

About the new bags, Tartan is a very exciting prospect for this nerd-chic girl. The plaid is almost Burberry-esque, at first glance. But please support the original design master, in this case, especially.

The Stars collection is something I’d seen floating around eBay, and thought might be bad fakes–with their cartoonish similarities to Hearts. But they’re actually somewhat better than the Hearts print bags.

    Dooney & Bourke “Quilt”

August 17, 2005 by Designer Ella

Dooney & Bourke Signature Quilt Small HoboDooney & Bourke has a new collection, Signature “Quilt.” Yes, the name actually includes quotation marks, because the quilting is really just a flat pattern. It’s not completely ugly, though, in fact it’s a bit cute. But it doesn’t say quality, when competitors have actual, lush quilting on their bags. That being said, I’m not a fan of that, “old lady look,” and I kind of prefer the Dooney, in a way. This small hobo is attractive, and I love a detailed strap.
