The Burberry Icons Collection is hit and miss with fashionistas, but different bags are either hit or miss with me. The heavy-hardwared bags I don’t so much like, but I love the brown leather Quilted Bag, and I really dig the new creative invention of quilted check/plaid “logo,” such as in bags like the Small Quilted Bag or the Hobo, pictured.
This large Quilted Hobo isn’t just a plain check hobo, it features a lock/key decorated flap. It’s actually made of quilted canvas—plush!—not PVC, and is trimmed in tan leather. The bag runs 16″ x 11″ x 2 ½” and will run you only $625 retail (and the small quilted bag; $450). As for the gorgeous Quilted Leather Bag; a whopping $1,395, but it sure is nice as the gem of the collection.
Check the Icons Collection at Burberry.com (and there are a few different styles at different department stores, so shop around.)

Finally there are leather bags for the perforated monogram Onatah collection! The bags have neutral-toned options for leather that is similar to embossed, but instead punched with tiny perforations to create the LV Monogram.
I love the Onatah Leather Pochette in aubergine. It looks like a hobo, and for a pochette, it’s large. Are you ready for a surprise? 14″ length x 8″ height x 1″ diameter. Oh yes! That and the luxe detail make it worth its $1,260 pricetag, n’est pas?
More details include an adjustable, but long, multi-ringed canvas strap with brass hardware, long leather zip-top closure pulls, and Monogram-patterned lining.

So, tell me, am I the only one who really doesn’t like the shape of this bag?
Anthropologie carries some adorable and nice-looking bags, in fact I wrote about one yesterday, but this Red Romper Hobo just doesn’t cut it for me.
If I spend $598 on a bag, I sure do not want it to resemble a child-size romper. Plus it looks quite large, and at 17″ l x 16″ h x 10″ d, it is. According to Anthropologie’s web site, it can even double its length by unsnapping and unfolding.
Regardless of size, if a bag comes in this shape, I’ll pass on it.

Okay, I’ll admit the chain detail is definitely growing on me. When I first started seeing the abundance of chains on the bags for the upcoming fall season, I wasn’t too excited. I’ve never been a big fan of chain handles or any chain on my bags, but I’ve seen more than one bag in the past couple weeks with chain hardware that I really like, including this Kate Suede Hobo by Tory Burch ($525).
I think this is a great bag! It’s classic, made from beautiful dark brown suede trimmed with leather, has a buckled shoulder strap and it’s all topped off with the gold chain/buckle hardware on the front—just the right touch!

It’s IT Bag Monday!
Big and beautiful is the limited edition anniversary “85th” Gucci hobo bag in the new issue of Allure Magazine. The photo takes up one whole page and looks gorgeous zoomed that large (eShops take note, it sells!). The details inspire awe like Gucci.com can’t. I’d recommend seeing this for yourself.
As nice, expensive, very IT, and probably destined for higher popularity the large hobo is, I prefer the cuter, medium-sized 85th hobo (pictured). Its proportions and shape are more suited to me, but the size is hardly small at 15″ wide, which brings the larger and taller bag to 17″ wide, and the price—hardly lower, too.
They’re both made of a luxe-fabric signature with patchwork—almost plaid—strips of velvet on the sides, trimmed with ostrich skin and subtle Gucci horse-bit hardware.
All that detail, girth, Gucci name and IT factor bring these two huge hobos up to around/over $4.5 thousand!
I oohed, ahhed and swooned over this bag. Boy, I love Gucci. I’m so ready for a season of Gucci IT!

Hmm, do I like this leather hobo? Yes, I think I do! Interesting textures grab my attention and the quilted nappa leather on this Miu Miu Quilted Leather Hobo (15″ l x 11.75″ h x 2.25″ d) is quite beautiful—it’s different and more unique than the purses I see every day. The top flap, which is smooth, provides a nice contrast to the body of the bag—otherwise, it might be too much. The braided handle is a nice touch!
Besides the braided handle, this bag also features a detachable body strap, two front pockets and is available in brown or classic black. Of course, lovely textured leathers cost money, which is why this purse is $1,445.

Marc by Marc Jacobs now has a signature-like print all over new bags?
The bags are all different and were given women’s names. The great thing is that they’re all made of soft leather that has been embossed with the scrambled letters that make up “Marc Jacobs.” No canvas, no jacquard, actually leather!
Subtle, sophisticated, and worth the few-hundred dollars pricetags. No more because we can’t see the full name (and the bags of course don’t have Jacobs’ styling), no less because this is quality.
The bag featured is the Luxy Hobo, Michelle. The supple grained leather bag, tonal in camel or mauve, is sized large at 16″ wide and costs $438. Buy this collection by Marc at eLUXURY .

It’s IT Bag Monday!
Yawwn. Vacations are tough, huh? Preparations for a week before … then after, there’s paying bills that arrived (and are already overdue, eek!), getting re-settled, and working out the kinks of getting back to one’s life. Sometimes that last part’s especially hard. I came from hot but completely air-conditioned Florida to more humid in my-house-than-out Home-Bleh-Home. Adjusting is of course tough.
So, I’m soo late in posting this. But my enthusiasm makes up, right?
The new Dior Rebelle line is so hot, this hobo’s cousin with a front pocket (and this one in white!) already sold out. I personally love the dogleash clips connecting the flap and strap, but find the bags more rebel than belle.
(And I love that pocket, but hate hobos with flaps. Boo.)
Buy this leather and suede-trimmed bag for $1,495 at eLUXURY .

Anthropologie has started highlighting some of their upcoming bags available for the fall, including the Alistair Hobo by Rafe, selling for $448. Measuring 16″ l x 10″ h x 3.5″ d, it’s made from plaid wool with leather trim and has a jacquard lining with three pockets.
I really like the look of this bag with the plaid, brass rings and the fold-over top strap—it definitely looks like it’s made for autumn.
The interesting thing about this bag is it’s expandable—if you’re running out of room, simply unzip the wraparound zipper and the bag expands. Of course, unfortunately, there’s no measurement for the expanded width mentioned in the description.
