Think I was excited about viewing the Marc Jacobs show? Well I was. But most Marc Jacobs bags are just a dream to you and me and Spring is far off.
So now with that in perspective you might try to imagine my excitement about the release of Coach’s 65th anniversary line.
Oh, yes! (You must already know I love Coach, though.)

The line brings back vintage styles with more modern shapes, it brings back a little of that ol’ Bonnie Cashin (designer head) kiss-lock. And it keeps new classics, like many bags in the “Legacy” collection that also resemble bags from last Spring. Coach even is introducing smaller details that instantly click with fans, like the color combo of Khaki (brown-toned) Signature with Ebony (YES, BLACK!) leather trim. Brown and black on one bag, Coach, you’ve finally taken one of my suggestions from my telepathic love notes!

One other thing that Coach is introducing is something major: a higher price point. Some bags cost the same, but many more rise above $600. And then—get this, there’s a limited edition Alligator bag for $10,000. Hello Hermès?! Even a genuine ostrich clutch for over $1,000! Oh, my!
Hopefully that will attract some more “catwalk” cred to the brand. Gucci schmucci?
Stay tuned for more products! Preview and shop the Anniversary Legacy accessories by Coach.

I’m way too excited to see the Marc Jacobs show pictures, I cannot contain myself. I also need to split this up into different posts, but I don’t think I can take more than one entry over a little bit of time. I’m crazy, huh?
I have something to show you that will also make you just die! (So there.) Marc Jacobs’ new Stams for Spring 2007!
First we have an extra-large Stam with a push-lock instead of a zippered pocket. The straps are also very different—much less detailed, and I don’t like them nearly as much.

Here you can plainly see the new quilting style for Spring 2007, and I love it! I really love the classic quilting, but this is unique; it sets the season and MJ name apart, at least for now. It’s really updated and modern, but I don’t want to say forever good-bye to classic quilts, of course!

Now here’s the Stam in metallic and some sort of skin! This season will bring a lot of skins to Marc Jacobs, but we’ll see more of that later!

New Luella Bag Destined for IT

As much as I love handbags, I do have other interests (hard to believe!) and because I have an opportunity to pursue another much-loved interest of mine, this will officially be my last post for Pursed Lips. I’ll definitely miss it, but I’ll make sure to check in and see what Ella posts about! She always finds fantastic bags!
I thought it was only appropriate that I write about an Elliott Lucca bag for my last post since an Elliott Lucca bag was the focus of my first post. The Georgia Shopper is made from soft woven leather, and it really does look so soft in the photo! Available for $268, the Shopper measures 15″ l x 10″ h x 4.5″ d and comes in four different colors (black, camel, chocolate and stone). I like all the colors, but the camel’s calling my name—it’s a great neutral.
This bag also has so many leather details—braided handles, woven accents, scalloped trim—I would love to examine this bag up close!

Bag for Bargain: Elliott Lucca Luxe Satchel

So, tell me, am I the only one who really doesn’t like the shape of this bag?
Anthropologie carries some adorable and nice-looking bags, in fact I wrote about one yesterday, but this Red Romper Hobo just doesn’t cut it for me.
If I spend $598 on a bag, I sure do not want it to resemble a child-size romper. Plus it looks quite large, and at 17″ l x 16″ h x 10″ d, it is. According to Anthropologie’s web site, it can even double its length by unsnapping and unfolding.
Regardless of size, if a bag comes in this shape, I’ll pass on it.

It’s been unseasonably cool here in the midwest, but that hasn’t persuaded my employers to turn off the central air-conditioning, making the office building I work in feel like a freezer. I figure they assume that it will get warmer in the next couple weeks again, so why bother turning off the air, right? Those freezing temps at work may explain the reason why the Sweater Girl Tote ($528) by Rafe, available from Anthropologie, caught my attention.
While the thought of dipping temperatures isn’t too exciting for me, I do like the look of sophisticated warm cuddly sweaters, which is what I think of when I look at the popcorn-knit wool on this tote. The wool/leather combination provides handbag-loving girls an adorable fall/winter bag with lots of texture and movement (check out the side tassels). Plus, I like the buckle flap on the front. By the way, it measures 13″ l x 9″ h x 6″ d.

Ella’s Handbag Sketch: Woven Wool Satchel
September 5, 2006 by Designer Ella
The first thing I think of when I look at this Chloé Edith Satchel is that it looks like a backpack — but it sits on the shoulder with straps!
What a 100% improvement on the old school style! That is why I have a second Edith posted today, the day after labor day, when school is just starting. The really cool (older) “kids” (okay a lot older and rich college adults) might just want to carry this roomy (unknown dimensions), lightly pocketed satchel in a new school way.
Imagine this bag on one shoulder, instead of (uck) a nylon, leather, or designer monogram pack on the back!
Maybe I’m crazy, but I like this bag for that purpose. But of course, it’s still expensive for a school bag (or is it to you?) at $1,560.

Yep, it’s IT Bag Tuesday, holiday special…

It’s the Edith, done East/West and without a pocket: The Chloé Edith Large Satchel. I like it! I like the shape, but I really like that side view… Look at those features!

Gussets with drawstring & tie and more buckles on the side in addition to the flap strap. Love buckles. Like the look of that flap.
Love!
This 15″ wide, 7 ½” tall, 7″ diameter (wow!) Italian designer bag rolls in at $1,575!

It’s IT Bag .. Tuesday! After the big Labor-Free Holiday!

Being much more feminine than motorcycle, I’m loving this quilted satchel bag by Balenciaga. It’s the perfect of the brand for moi, with plush diamond quilts that beg to be rubbed, an adorable–huggable shape, and just enough Balenciaga touches to inspire awe. The sophisticated styling and luxe metallic pewter leather spells worthy expense.
Hmm, I’d just add a couple more tassels to different spots on the bag, then it would be perfect. (What can I say, I like recognizable touches!)
