Alternatives to Monogram Speedies

June 21, 2006 by Designer Ella

Louis Vuitton Speedy 25

To answer the issue of “everyone has a fake LV, so everyone will think my authentic Louis Vuitton is fake” (referenced in my post on the Monogram Speedy 25), how about Epi Leather or the Damier Canvas Speedy? True purse connoisseurs will still recognize LV material and styling, many won’t know any better, and hardly anyone will think you’ve given in to a knockoff non-monogram.

Nice, but I’m not so sure these have the same oomph, what do you think?

Kate Spade Small Canvas Summer Bag (Sale!)

June 21, 2006 by Mallory Road

    Kate Spade Summer Bag
Okay, I just think this Delano Small Rowen Tote by Kate Spade is adorable and is perfect for this time of year! Plus, here’s the great news and why I decided to post about it—it’s on sale for $106, marked down from it’s original $265 price tag!

My one problem with this bag is it doesn’t fasten shut—I like my purses to be closed when I’m carrying them so I don’t have to worry about things falling out, or worse yet, someone’s hands trying to reach in and grab my wallet without me noticing. Yeah, some might call me paranoid, but oh well. This bag does feature an interior zipped pocket which helps.

It’s made from green and white canvas, has white leather trim and a beige and blue polka dot lining, which I wish I could see a picture of. Ooh, polka dots—maybe I really will have to consider buying this one. I can get over the bag not fastening—maybe.

    Michael Kors Leather Satchel Bag

June 20, 2006 by Mallory Road

    Michael Kors Satchel Bag
Michael Kors has taken a classic shape, mixed in a few chic details and came out with the beautiful “Ashbury” East/West Satchel (14″ l x 7.5″ h x 4.75″ d). This has a clean, simple look to me with it’s whipstitched handles, leather zipper pulls and silver hardware.

You can pick one up for yourself in either the gorgeous Ocean (turquoise) or the Tan for $278, which isn’t too bad a price, considering it’s a style that you can easily carry to work and on the weekends. When you know you can get a lot of mileage out of a purse, it’s not so bad spending a little more than you might normally.

    Fendi Velvet Wisteria Spy

June 19, 2006 by Designer Ella

Wow, it’s also Fendi day, today!

    Fendi Velvet Wisteria Spy Bag

I have Wisteria Hysteria, for certain. I love the flowers appliquéd to this line of Fendi Spys. And I know many are desperate for these IT bags.

This version is made of plush velvet, and I love the extra contrast stitching on one of the flowers.

The velvet lovely and luxe, but I still prefer the tan leather one from a few months back.

This rendition of the coveted range is available for $2,990 from Saks Fifth Avenue.

    Fendi Logo Shoulder B. Bag

June 19, 2006 by Designer Ella

    It’s IT Bag Monday!

Fendi B. Shoulder Logo BagThere is a new Fendi B. Shoulder bag for Fall, and this one’s a logo bag! Is this the first Logoed B.? I think so.

It’s just like the other shoulder B. bag, with auburn-hued trimming, but the ruching on the bottom really comes through better with a fabric (although who wouldn’t love that effect more on leather?!). It even has the same charming chain strap. Do I like/want this more than the Leather Shoulder B.? No, with B. buckles, no one needs a signature, and it actually detracts from the buckles being the focus. Although I like Fendi’s logo, be it geometrical and “cold,” it is clever—so I’d take it in a Chef. (I’m always mentioning that Chef!)

This is indeed a Busy B., but we love it anyway, right? Well, perhaps we can truly know the love, because it only sells for $920. Quel shock, quel shock, quel shock! Hmmm, perhaps there won’t be much time to think about it or save a few extra hundred (as opposed to blowing savings on a bunch of extra thousands), because at that price, with this IT, it could really sell fast! (I’m thinking, it is quite like a chef with that ruching! Plus B.!) Hmm. Oh, no, the craziness! Get yours at Saks Fifth Avenue. (Or don’t and save it pour moi, perhaps it could go on sale, if you do! ;-))

Ghibli Reptile Satchel–Don’t Mock this Genuine Python Bag!

June 16, 2006 by Designer Ella

iconWell known name brand, schm—ame brand. This Ghibli Reptile Large Satchel is so divine, luxurious, and with just the right touch of two-toned exotic skin. That’s genuine python, there, so let’s get straight to the dirty truth, this bag costs $1,456! Think of this brand as a no-name? That may be true, which only means this bag is that high quality to merit its pricetag.

(Their other bags made of regular leathers and suedes are more affordably priced, in the hundreds.)

Don’t scoff or shrug off, maybe you truly want to pay thousands of dollars for the IT name. Well now you realize, and isn’t that silly? For those of you who want to stay away from the bags everyone has, the bags people assume are fake, and paying for name even—yet you still want and can afford luxury, I say this bag moans your name!

This Italian python skin satchel is adorned with brass studs on its handles, sized super large at 18″ wide, has just enough pockets and comes with a detachable shoulder strap. Get yours at Forzieri.com, the site for All-Italian Luxury.

    Whimsical Handbags

June 15, 2006 by Mallory Road

    Betsey Johnson Bag
I’m all for having some handbags in your collection that are unique and different—hey, let’s even say whimsical, but you need to be careful. Sometimes, whimsical turns into sensory overload—in the desire to create a purse that’s fun and almost one-of-a-kind looking, a designer can many times end up going overboard with too much color, too many patterns, too many charms—just too much!

    Nordstrom.com
even has a section devoted to “Whimsical Handbags” and I find that many of the bags featured there miss the mark when it comes to what I’m looking for in a bag. I think that colorful prints and bright hues can combine to create some really beautiful handbags, but even so, the combo doesn’t always quite work, especially when used in excess. So, I think I’ll steer clear of the “Whimsical Handbags” and still have plenty of fun with my leather ones!

    Site Updates

June 15, 2006 by Designer Ella

We might have been sandboxed by Google, if that exists or exists after a new domain is on Google for months. It’s all mysterious.

I’ve been getting different tips to rise to the top for when we return, and one tip was confusing but I tried to rearrange some things. But things went haywire and the wrong CSS file got uploaded and replaced my backup system. The site in IE went berserk, never in Firefox.

I need a great web coder for our team! I’m not cut out for this.

But it’s all fixed, including the archive and single articles, which were behaving differently from the main (and I never check those on IE, why should they be different? Crazy IE). It does look a little different from before and from Firefox, but it’s all working and comparable.

This whole thing lasted the entire afternoon (and I haven’t yet posted for la Carnivale!) and gave me massive stress. So naturally, I didn’t eat after lunch and I exercised hard, which was good. I’m pooped now and of course I must shower again after my home gym session.
